June Buboire

June Buboire was born and raised in Sagkeeng and currently resides in Winnipeg, MB.

June and her family moved to Winnipeg in 2017 and became involved with Bear Clan. They volunteer to give back to the community. Her family received an award from Manitoba lotteries for their commitment. They also volunteer with the Evelyn Memorial search team to help search for missing people, together with Daryl Contois and three councillors from Sagkeeng. They came, walked and searched for their missing community members and successfully located all but one.

June went back to school through CAHRD and graduated with her two older daughters in 2020 from the Community Economic Development program that is accredited by Kanikanichihk, Neeeginan College and Red River college.

June comes from trauma and has lived in trauma. She uses this as a reminder that no matter how hard life gets, we have the choice to make our lives better.  We are the change that we want to be.  June has worked and ran deployment crews during covid times all over Manitoba and in one community in Ontario.  June was also the Female Team lead in the organization FNCRC – First Nation Community Response corp with James Favel.
